Wider Church Ministries Team seeks to encourage and assist the churches of the Central Pacific Conference and their members as they reach out in mutual relationships of mission and ministry with those beyond the four walls of the church—in the local community, the nation, and the world.
1. To act as a conduit between the national UCC Wider Church Ministries Covenanted Ministry and Global Ministries, a common witness of the UCC and the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) and the churches of the Central Pacific Conference and their members
2. To provide ongoing, up-to-date information to the churches about all the programs of the national Wider Church Ministries and Global Ministries
3. To gather stories from the churches about their national and international mission work and share this information throughout the CPC and with the national setting of the UCC
4. To lift up and promote the following national WCM ministries:
a. Child Sponsorship
b. Disaster Preparedness & Response
c. Health & Wholeness Advocacy (Global Health & HIV/AIDS and LGBT Ministries)
d. Refugee Ministries
e. Volunteer Ministries
5. To promote awareness of Global Ministries through
a. Encouraging relationships between churches and Global Ministries mission personnel when serving overseas and when on in our region on itineration.
b. Making presentations to churches
c. Providing displays and workshops at conference gatherings
6. To promote the One Great Hour of Sharing special offering throughout the conference
7. To engage in mission with the Micronesian population of our region through the Pacific Islander Working Group
8. To model and provide opportunities for mission involvement for the churches and members of the CPC by
a. Sponsoring regional, national, and global mission trips
b. Entering into a mutual mission partnership with global mission partners.
9. To improve communication among the churches of the CPC
10. To broadcast the UCC’s message of inclusivity through advertising in local media throughout the CPC
11. To administer the Campus Ministry Initiative Grant Program, providing financial support to churches reaching out to students on college campuses
12. To provide information about and encourage churches to participate in ecumenical and interfaith ministries regionally, nationally, and globally
